Ogilvy Renault has cleverly positioned itself to strategically take advantage of a partnership with the MaRS Discovery District enabling the development of new client relationships and providing critical legal guidance to new ventures.
Prior to the partnership between Ogilvy Renault and MaRS, Ogilvy Renault developed a strong niche serving the pharma industry, litigation, product liability and patent prosecution. Upon recommendations by Richard Sutin a senior partner at Ogilvy Renault, the partnership allowed Ogilvy Renault to leverage the firm's biotech expertise. The relationship with MaRS has since bloomed and Ogilvy Renault has ever since been growing with entrepreneurs. Legal advice can be very expensive and often times new companies put off legal services. As well as the development of new client relationships, Ogilvy Renault's relationship with MaRS is more than just a legal services provider, lawyers participate in educational and outreach programs as well as offer pro bono office hours for entrepreneurs.
Ogilvy Renault's commitment to innovation based companies will be very beneficial in the future and for the development of Ontario's innovation economy. Oh excuse me, it's June 1st, Norton Rose and Ontario's innovation economy.
On Wednesday February 12th Deloitte, Ogilvy Renault and MaRS presented Turning Trash into Money, a part of the Cleantech in Canada Breakfast series. The expert panel assembled to discuss technologies, issues and emerging opportunities in waste management for cleantech entrepreneurs, investors and government. The panel consisted of Pushkar Kumar, Geoff Rathbone, Alan Evans, Richard Fish and was moderated by Richard Sutin.
During the presentation, it was suggested that Canadians produce more waste per capita than anyone else in the developed world. Currently the city of Toronto produces 1 million tons of garbage per year. Corporations and municipalities spend billions every year disposing of by-products and waste creating opportunities for companies that can provide cost-effective, efficient and sustainable solutions.
