| LHINs, The Federal Government and The Principles of The Canadian Health Act |

Coming under fire in the media over the past couple months LHINs have had their share of controversy and scepticism but there are still a staggering amount of Canadians that still don't know what a LHIN is.
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care established 14 LHINs (Local Health Integration Networks) The mandate of the LHINs was to improve the access and equity, system integration and coordination, quality and sustainability within the Canadian Healthcare system. The responsibilities of the LHINs include managing local systems with a focus on planning, funding and integrating local health services to meet the needs of residents within the boundaries of respective LHINs.

With the revenue around the world from counterfeit drug sales having been projected to exceed $75 billion U.S. by 2010 changes needed to be made to track pharmaceuticals more efficiently. Recent legislation in California will require all drugs to be serialized and traced through the supply chain by 2015. The proposed "ePedigree" law requires retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and distributors to track, trace and authenticate the entire chain of drug custody. It also requires manufacturers to track their products at a unit level, which is a rather significant change in an industry that has never tracked beyond the lot level.

| Healthpartners' Mobile Site Offering |

Toronto based Diversinet Corp. has partnered with Minneapolis based non profit health provider HealthPartners in a multi-year deal to develop applications and build out its suite of mobile offerings for patients.
Diversinet's MobiSecure SMS and MobiSecure Wallet and Vault, apps have been designed to ensure patients keep up to date with their personal health records via their mobile devices, offering appointment reminders, prescription information and other medical information. HealthPartners will provide the ability for subscribers to communicate with their care managers via secure, two-way messaging. According to Scott Aebischer, senior vice-president of customer service and product innovation for HealthPartners, "although the health provider has had electronic secure messaging in place for several years, this will be its first foray into secure mobile messaging."
